Zuni Indian Reservation

Zuni is the popular name of a Pueblo (village dweller) tribe of the Zunian linguistic family.  In character and customs, the Zunis resemble other Pueblo tribes. They are expert agriculturists and have highly developed arts and crafts.  The tribal council, with the governor as its administrative head, is the final decision-making body on the reservation.  The council manages financial affairs, can establish business enterprises, levy and collect taxes and execute contracts.  The Zuni Indian Reservation is located in northwest New Mexico and covers 407,247 acres.  Habitat stamps were first issued in 1995, although permits resembling stamps were issued in 1993 and 1994.
